Data Sheet

Backface Deformation (BFD) Summary

This data is ballistic helmet tested with pads and a retention system.

This test used 9 mm, 124-grain FMJ rounds under the AR/PD 10-02 Rev A (Modified) helmet protocol.
All shots resulted in no penetration.

The backface deformation values were:

7.1 mm, 4.2 mm, 10.5 mm, 5.8 mm, 7.0 mm

These numbers show how much the helmet and pads pushed into the clay headform after impact.
Lower deformation means less blunt-force trauma.

Overall:
A BFD range of 4–10 mm is excellent for a 9 mm helmet test. The helmet provided strong protection and very effective energy absorption.

V50 Ballistic Performance Summary

This test used .22 caliber, 17-grain FSP (Fragment Simulating Projectile) rounds under the AR/PD 10-02 Rev A, Change 6 (Modified) helmet ballistic protocol.

The V50 value represents the velocity at which there is a 50% probability of complete penetration and 50% probability of partial penetration. It is a key indicator of a helmet’s fragmentation resistance.

The test results show:

  • V50 = 2613 ft/s

  • High Partial = 2623 ft/s

  • Low Complete = 2623 ft/s

These numbers mean the helmet consistently resisted fragmentation impacts up to approximately 2613–2623 ft/s, demonstrating strong protection against high-speed fragments.

Overall Interpretation

A V50 of 2613 ft/s is considered excellent performance for a ballistic helmet, indicating high structural integrity and effective energy resistance against fragmentation threats.

In summary:
The helmet achieved a high V50 value, confirming robust fragmentation protection and reliable ballistic performance.
